Sometimes You Get Lucky

So I respond to a craigslisting yesterday for a free "Atari Monitor". Before I run over and grab it, the seller informs me she found a keyboard and some other stuff to go with it in a box... ok, great. I'm thinking a lone MEGA keyboard or sumsuch in a brown ratty box right. When I get there the sell...

Williams Pinball Collection for Wii

Picked this up yesterday based on some good word-of-mouth. I can confirm that it does have a lot to offer for a measly $20. The tables seem to play really well and I couldn't find a single thing to complain about with the physics or graphical representation. It's a real solid, if unspectacular effor...

woo... that was close. I almost missed taking my own advice. I realized at about 11:15pm last night that I still hadn't bought tickets... Needless to say, I've secured the tickets and can now confirm that me and my girlfriend will be going for all 3 days again this year! ... Now the waiting begins...

Contra 4 DS

As a fan of the series I decided to give this one a try. I am a huge fan of Contra III primarily, and loved Hard Corps on the Genesis. What's so cool about this game is that it seems to take the basic concepts of III and smothers the gameplay with elements of Hard Corps. It makes for a very compelli...

Way Beyond the Moon Baby!

Received my Space Patrol order today and haven't been able to step away from the Intellivision since. Flat out, this is one of the best Intellivision games ever. Its funny I say that since I was never a huge Moon Patrol fan, I always felt Moon Patrol was just missing that certain something to make i...

That was a great podcast! The more we discuss the art of Dani Bunten the better. We are fortunate enough today that many of the pioneers of gaming are still with us including the founding fathers, Baer, Bushnell, Alcorn, etc, but it saddens me that I will never be able to meet one of the industry's ...

Annoying eh? That's a real tough one, I can think of many hard ones, but not really any annoying ones... oh.. how about 90% of all the baddies in Sonic The Hedgehog... not difficult, but very annoying - I hate loosing all those rings. on another annoying note with regards to a boss (almost on topic)...

Great article. Thanks for posting. I recently purchased a nearly complete A8 collection of the old EA catalog and must say that there is more pure gaming gold in those early releases - especially M.U.L.E. - than I think in the entire lineup of several generations of certain consoles which will go un...

There were a couple of games that I thought looked really cool, Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, and the Star Wars game. Were those any good? Remember the day when competing consoles felt different? Like when the SMS games just had a totally different vibe than most NES games, or how the SNES seemed ...

Thanks for hosting this Raz. EG represents so much of the style and feel of that early era of gaming. Kunkle, Worley and Katz have my undying gratitude for creating what would become an enduring tribute to the Golden Age of Gaming (btw, I'd love to hear an interview with all 3 of them together). I h...

Intellivision Love?

Harmik and I were talking over on the "Best Console Ever" thread ( http://www.twitchasylum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=467 ) and in danger of hijacking it with our love of the the Intellivision, so I decided to start a topic here where it belongs. Anyone else out there share a love of overlays, golden...

It would be hard to argue against the venerable SNES. Objectively or from a purely biased approach the system really did have it all. All prevelent genres were well represented. No matter what kind of gamer you were you could find happiness on it. It's hard to find a flaw with the SNES. For a topic ...
