Played with it a bit. While what they did is definitley cool, it really doesn't retain the feel of the original. But hey, it is cool nonetheless.

Hmm - was expecting something more like Double Dragon or Battletoads. While it is kind of neat accomplishment-wise, it hurt my eyes and was a pain to control. Now I want to go play Super Mario Bros. 3. (or that new DS Mario Bros -- must save up some money)
